Material Descriptions

4" Crushed Gravel

Heavy Earthwork

Coarse 4" maximum gravel for heavy stabilization and deep embankment work. The large, interlocking particle size bridges weak subgrade and soft ground conditions where smaller gradations would fail. Used as first-lift fill in bog bridging and stream crossing approaches.

3/4" & 1-1/2" Crushed Gravel

General Construction

Versatile all-purpose crushed gravel for residential and commercial applications. Angular fracture and controlled fines provide good compactability and drainage. Standard choice for driveway base courses, haul roads, and parking area subbase construction across Maine.

3/8" Crushed Gravel

Fine Gradation

Smaller-size crushed gravel suitable for surface course applications, tight-pack fill, and finish grading on unpaved surfaces. Compacts well and provides a stable, dense surface layer for light-duty traffic areas and finish dressing on driveways.

MDOT Type A & D Gravel

ME DOT § 703.07 Certified

Mechanically crushed, well-graded base course aggregate meeting Maine DOT Standard Specifications. Type A (1-1/2" max) is specified for flexible pavement base course. Type D (4" max) is used for subbase and DOT shoulder construction. Certified test reports available on request.
